Looking to take the next step in your career? Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Piping Stress Engineer to join our Project Delivery Group (PDG) in Brisbane.

We manage our clients’ entire project lifecycle from studies to building assets, operating the assets, and developing efficiencies. Join our team and become part of a community that strives for positive change– providing the best solutions for our clients’ toughest challenges!

As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure that piping systems comply with project specifications, Australian standards and Hatch processes.
  • Prepare/review the Stress specification, and develop/maintain the stress critical line list.
  • Nominated anchor bay locations and provide loads for anchor bays, structures, tanks, equipment, etc.
  • Participate in layout reviews and provide comments on the layout prior to formal flexibility analysis.
  • Provide guidance to designers on supporting of systems not subject to formal analysis.
  • Complete piping stress analysis in accordance with ASME B31.3, nominating support locations.
  • Prepare, verify and approve design calculations and verify isometrics.
  • Mentoring and supervision of junior piping engineers.
  • Specification of springs, expansion joints or special pipe support design as required.

You bring to the role:

  • BSc/BEng in Mechanical Engineering
  • Registration as a professional engineer (preferred)
  • Eight years engineering and stress analysis experience in mining and metals projects
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Use of CAESAR II analysis software
  • Strong technical skills and knowledge of Australian piping codes and ASME B31.3
  • Experience in isometric verification and approval.
  • Autonomous and able to supervise a stress analysis team
