Join a company that is passionately committed to the pursuit of a better world through positive change. With more than 65 years of business and technical expertise in mining, energy, and infrastructure, our 10,000 colleagues in 150 countries tirelessly work toward bettering the industries in which we operate. With practical solutions that are safe, innovative and sustainable, we think globally while acting locally. Are you looking for an opportunity to join a diverse group of professionals who are committed to remaining exceptional? We look forward to hearing from you.

Our expertise in infrastructure includes aviation, highways and bridges, planning and advisory services, ports, rail and transit, tunnels, and water. Want to be part of the creation and construction of our cities? Then the infrastructure team is for you!

Our Brisbane Infrastructure team is entering an exciting growth phase, driven by newly awarded high‑profile projects and forward‑thinking workforce planning. As a result, we’re looking for a Senior Highways Engineer to play a key role in delivering major transport projects within our multi‑disciplinary consultancy. You’ll bring strong experience in the roads and highways sector, particularly with DTMR, and apply both your technical expertise and leadership capability to help strengthen and expand our Roads & Highways team.

This is a rare opportunity to join a business on the rise where your technical influence, project leadership, and collaborative mindset will directly shape our future. You’ll work alongside talented professionals across disciplines, contribute to the growth of the practice, and elevate your career as part of Hatch’s broader communities of practice.

Key responsibilities of your role will include:

  • Supervising civil engineering design for freeways, intersections, bulk earthworks, roads and rail

  • Preparing, reviewing and checking engineering calculations, technical specifications, data sheets and reports

  • Reviewing and checking engineering drawings

  • Providing input to engineering, operating and cost estimates

  • Leading in and contributing to design reviews

  • Leading designs from tender through feasibility to detailed design

  • Client/Stakeholder management

  • Managing commercial aspects of projects

  • Assisting with bidding and tenders

  • Mentoring junior staff

About you:

The ideal candidate will have proven experience coordinating, designing, and delivering road projects in Queensland for DTMR as part of multi‑disciplinary teams, supported by a civil engineering degree from a recognised tertiary institution. They will demonstrate strong safety awareness, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a collaborative, inclusive approach to working with others. Their technical background will include expertise in bulk earthworks, site grading, surface water management, access and haul roads, freeways, and earth structures. Registration as an RPEQ or CPEng will be highly regarded.

Why join us?

  • Work with great people to make a difference
  • Collaborate on exciting projects to develop innovative solutions
  • Top employer
