Ready to take the next step in your water resources career? Hatch is seeking a highly motivated Senior Water Resources Engineer to join our Project Delivery Group in Brisbane, working closely with our Civil and Hydrotechnical team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects across the mining, energy and infrastructure sectors, while collaborating with industry-leading specialists and delivering solutions that make a meaningful impact.

Our team provides end-to-end water resources and hydrotechnical services, including hydrological and hydraulic (flood) modelling and assessment, drainage analysis and design, and climate change impact assessments covering flooding, drought and water planning. We deliver hydraulic analysis and design of critical water infrastructure such as diversions, levees, culverts, bridges, spillways and energy dissipation structures, as well as consequence category and dam break assessments for water and tailings storages. Our scope also includes water balance and reservoir operations modelling, along with stormwater and water quality management solutions tailored to complex project environments.

As the successful candidate, you will be:

  • Leading water balance modelling of the team
  • Expanding Hatch’s mine water management our project portfolio
  • Liaising with clients to understand their needs and identify how we can assist
  • Writing/reviewing technical reports
  • Writing/reviewing proposals
  • Training, mentoring and guiding junior engineering staff
  • Providing input to engineering, operating and cost estimates

About You
You bring a strong technical foundation in civil and environmental engineering, supported by a recognised tertiary qualification and over 10 years’ experience delivering complex water-focused projects while engaging confidently with clients. Your expertise spans areas such as flood and groundwater modelling, hydrogeology, geomorphology, climate change impact assessments, spillway, waterway and dam safety design, dam break assessments, sediment transport analysis, water supply, effluent treatment, and flood warning systems. You will also have experience with stormwater and water quality management, including Water Sensitive Urban Design elements such as sediment basins and wetlands, as well as complementary civil engineering experience in areas like road and pavement design and preparation of bills of quantities. Ideally, you are RPEQ and CPEng accredited (or working towards this) and bring extensive experience in GoldSim modelling. You are recognised for your clear written and verbal communication, strong time management skills, and ability to adapt across multiple priorities.
