We are seeking an Intermediate Urban Planner to support the delivery of high‑quality planning outcomes across strategic planning, development assessment and project delivery. This role is ideal for a technically capable planner who is ready to work with greater autonomy while continuing to develop their professional expertise. Working closely with senior planners and project teams, you will contribute to a diverse range of planning projects, balancing policy input, statutory assessment and stakeholder engagement. You’ll play a key role in supporting complex planning initiatives while managing your own projects, preparing clear advice and helping shape sustainable, well‑designed urban environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare components of structure plans, precinct plans, policy documents and strategic planning studies
• Undertake research and analysis to support planning applications, policy development and strategic recommendations
• Assess development applications of moderate complexity for compliance with relevant legislation and planning instruments
• Prepare well‑reasoned technical reports, recommendations and briefing notes for senior staff and committees
• Liaise with applicants, consultants, government agencies and internal stakeholders to resolve planning matters
• Assist with the planning and delivery of community and stakeholder engagement activities, including workshops and briefings
• Manage small to medium planning projects independently and support senior planners on larger, multidisciplinary projects
• Produce maps, graphics and spatial analysis using GIS and related tools to support evidence‑based planning outcomes

About You

You hold a degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Planning or a related discipline and bring 2–5 years’ professional planning experience, ideally within a consultancy, local government or government agency environment. You have a solid understanding of planning legislation, assessment processes and local planning frameworks, and are confident preparing clear, concise and defensible planning reports. You enjoy working across multiple projects, communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, and take pride in producing high‑quality, well‑considered planning outcomes.
