We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Structural team in Sydney. This role will play a key part in leading people, projects and client outcomes, while driving technical excellence and supporting the continued growth of the team and business.
This is a leadership role suited to a highly capable structural professional who brings strong technical capability, commercial awareness, and proven experience managing and developing engineering teams in a consulting environment.
In this exciting and fast paced role your day to day will include:
- Deliver high quality and innovative structural designs and documentation for building structures with large complexity, including but not limited to high-rise developments, educational, Retail, Industrial, health and sporting facilities.
- Lead and managing projects from concept design to construction within budget and delivery time frames.
- Liaise with architects, project managers, builders, developers and other relevant project stakeholders across multiple disciplines.
- Cultivate a sense of client focus in your team's everyday approach to their work, in particular with a sense of responsiveness, delivery on time, and professionalism.
- Mentor and develop engineers, contribute to growing the structural team and growing the portfolio of clients.
- Delivery of technically accurate, cost effective and optimum designs in accordance with Australian standards.
- Contribute to innovative and technical improvement projects and designs.
- Strong track record of accomplishment including +10 years of experience across large scale commercial building structures.
- Minimum 5+ years experience managing an engineering team of at least 5 people.
- Experience in setting revenue budgets annually, business development, and managing a P&L for your department.
- Chartered professional engineer status, NER, Class 2 DB&P.
- A strong track record of being able to work both independently and part of a collaborative, fast paced team including mentoring of graduates, cadets colleagues.
- An inquisitive mindset that is always looking for ways to be innovative in problem solving.
- Strong organisational and time management skills allowing you to juggle a range of interesting projects at any one time.
- Well-honed knowledge in the interpretation and application of Australian standards and building codes.
- Exceptional influencing and negotiating skills working with a variety of people from all walks of life including an ability of quickly build rapport and gain trust.
- A drive and determination that allows you to flourish and thrive in a learning environment working with multidiscipline teams.
- Lead multidisciplinary projects as project leader where required.
- A minimum qualification of Bachelor Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from a recognised tertiary institution.
- Thorough working knowledge of ETABS, Ram Concept, RAPT and Spacegass.
