You will drive reliability and continuous improvement initiatives that optimise plant performance, minimise downtime, and support safe, efficient operations.

This is a great opportunity for an Electrical Engineer with a passion for Automation & Control, hands-on PLC programming and SCADA experience, and a background in manufacturing to drive impactful projects and continuous improvement outcomes.

This role is Monday to Friday, start your day early at 6AM with an early finish of 2/2:30PM.

What you’ll do
  • Champion a strong safety-first culture and ensure all electrical, automation, and control system activities comply with WHS requirements, statutory regulations, and James Hardie standards.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing improvement of electrical, automation, control, and communication systems to deliver safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimise PLC, SCADA, HMI, and industrial control systems, ensuring equipment performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Deliver capital projects and continuous improvement initiatives from concept through commissioning, driving operational efficiency and equipment reliability.
  • Develop and execute testing, validation, and commissioning plans to ensure new and modified systems perform safely and meet operational requirements.
  • Support and oversee control system upgrades, modifications, and troubleshooting activities, ensuring appropriate interlocks, protection systems, and safety functions are implemented and maintained.
  • Design, support, and optimise industrial communication networks, including Ethernet and fieldbus systems, to ensure reliable connectivity and data flow across plant operations.
  • Monitor and analyse system performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement solutions to enhance safety, reliability, throughput, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead root cause investigations, reliability improvement initiatives, and condition monitoring programs to reduce downtime and improve equipment performance.
  • Work closely with Production, Maintenance, Reliability, and Engineering teams to solve problems, deliver improvements, and build a culture of shared ownership for plant performance.
What you’ll bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3+ years' experience in a similar Electrical, Automation, Controls, or Systems Engineering role within a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
  • Proven experience delivering automation, control system, and capital improvement projects from concept through to commissioning and handover.
  • Demonstrated experience with Allen Bradley PLCs and Studio 5000 is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience with SCADA systems is essential, with Plant SCADA experience highly preferred
  • Knowledge of Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), motor control systems, and power distribution is advantageous.
  • Experience with Schneider Electric PLCs, EcoStruxure platforms, or Schneider automation products is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, and engineering analysis tools.
  • Sound knowledge of Australian Standards, WHS legislation, machine safety, electrical installations, and industrial automation systems.
  • Strong commitment to Work Health & Safety (WHS), Quality Management, and safe system design.
  • Advanced troubleshooting, fault-finding, and analytical problem-solving skills within industrial automation and manufacturing environments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with operators, trades, engineers, contractors, and senior leaders.
