We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our national Building Group to be based in Sydney or Melbourne. This roles key function is to plan and deliver all relevant scopes of construction work and ensure effective delivery of planned schedules within the planned time and budget.
Responsibilities of the role include;
- Plan and control the delivery of elements of the project design to ensure the achievement of quality, completion and project objectives
- Manage the design approval process in accordance with project requirements and program
- Prepare budgets and schedules of design delivery for management approval
- Manage client and stakeholder expectations
- Supervise design and drafting consultants
- Foster interaction between design and construction teams to maximise innovation and project success
To be successful in this key role, you must demonstrate the following:
- Tertiary qualifications in Building, Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying or other relevant discipline
- Design management expertise on complex commercial building projects $100m + with a mid tier or top tier contractor
- Strong understanding of Building Codes, Australian standards and Local Authority regulations
- Commercial and legislative compliance skills
- Understanding of design frameworks and systems
- Proven ability to communicate effectively to drive positive outcomes with key stakeholders
- Strong relationship building, influencing and negotiation skills
