About the Opportunity

Protecting people, property, and business continuity requires more than just products. It takes deep technical expertise, innovative solutions, and trusted industry partnerships.

As a Technical Services Engineer, you will join our Fire Suppression business, a global leader in fire protection solutions. Since inventing the modern fire sprinkler over 140 years ago, Johnson Controls has continued to set the standard in fire safety innovation, manufacturing and supporting one of the industry's most comprehensive portfolios of fire suppression systems, including sprinklers, valves, extinguishers, special hazards systems, agents, fittings, and related components.

This is an exciting opportunity for a technically minded engineer who enjoys solving complex challenges, supporting customers, delivering training, and working with leading fire protection technologies across Australia and New Zealand.

What You'll Do

Reporting to the APAC Technical Services Manager, you will:

  • Provide expert technical support for fire suppression products to customers and internal stakeholders across Australia and New Zealand via phone, email, online channels, and onsite visits.

  • Support commissioning activities, troubleshooting, and fault-finding to ensure optimal product performance.

  • Develop and provide technical drawings, layouts, and engineering support for fire suppression solutions introduced into the ANZ market.

  • Collaborate with global and regional technical support teams to source and deliver accurate product and application information.

  • Partner with Business Development Managers by providing technical expertise, product specifications, and sales support.

  • Deliver high-quality technical training programs to consultants, engineers, contractors, and field service teams.

  • Act as a trusted technical advisor, helping customers navigate industry codes, standards, and best practices in fire suppression.

About You

We're looking for a customer-focused technical professional who enjoys translating complex engineering information into practical solutions.

You will bring:

  • Experience within the Fire Protection, Fire & Safety, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Building Products, or related engineering industries.

  • Strong ability to interpret technical documentation, datasheets, Australian Standards, and industry codes.

  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills with a practical, solutions-focused approach.

  • Experience delivering technical training, presentations, or knowledge-sharing sessions. A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent) will be highly regarded.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage confidently across all levels of business and industry.

  • Excellent technical writing skills with the ability to produce clear documentation and customer communications.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar design software.

  • Mechanical aptitude and confidence working with technical equipment and hand tools.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Why Join Johnson Controls?

  • Work for a globally recognised leader in fire protection and building technologies.

  • Join a collaborative and highly experienced technical team.

  • Gain exposure to industry-leading fire suppression products and emerging technologies.

  • Enjoy opportunities for professional development, training, and career progression across a global organisation.

  • Make a meaningful impact by helping customers protect critical infrastructure, people, and assets.

Additional Information

  • Applicants must have full working rights in Australia.

  • Pre-employment checks, including references, medical assessment, criminal history screening, and drug & alcohol testing, will apply.

Diversity & Inclusion

At Johnson Controls, diversity and inclusion are fundamental to our success. We foster a high-performance culture where everyone is empowered to contribute, innovate, and grow. Your ideas matter, your expertise is valued, and your impact is recognized.

Ready to Apply?

If you're passionate about engineering, problem-solving, customer success, and fire protection technology, we'd love to hear from you.
