The Diversity and Inclusion team is a group of passionate and inclusive collaborators with diverse perspectives who are located across different states in Australia. Your colleagues are experts in the areas that they support and stay connected to each other through their purpose and values. You will have the opportunity to work alongside a team of other state-based Indigenous Employment Advisors and subject matter experts. Please note this is a fixed term contract for two years and the successful candidate will be based in Western Australia.

What you’ll be doing

As an Indigenous Employment Advisor working for Kmart and Target, you will:

  • Provide support to create sustainable employment opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Provide support and manage projects around employment and engagement to make Kmart and Target a truly inclusive place to work and grow
  • Partner with the State Support team to embed Aboriginal employment into all state and people initiatives
  • Provide specialist advice to a range of stakeholders on strategic Aboriginal employment and engagement activities
  • Build and maintain relationships with community to encourage employment opportunities and engagement
  • Regular intrastate and interstate travel

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

  • An understanding of the issues affecting First Nations People, and an ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with First Nations people
  • One to three years’ experience managing First Nations employment initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience building rapport quickly with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders across the business and the community
  • An understanding of the social issues and challenges in first nations communities and the ability to handle conversations with empathy and compassion
