The Diversity and Inclusion team is a group of passionate and inclusive collaborators with diverse perspectives who are located across different states in Australia. Your colleagues are experts in the areas that they support and stay connected to each other through their purpose and values. You will have the opportunity to lead a team of subject matter experts in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment and engagement. The successful candidate can be based in VIC, NSW or QLD.
What you’ll be doing
As an Indigenous Employment Manager working for Kmart, you will:
- Use your exceptional leadership experience to lead, coach and develop a team of passionate Indigenous Advisors
- Partner with People and Capability Managers and State Support teams to embed the Indigenous Employment Strategy and project manage key deliverables, by travelling interstate
- Implement strategies to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander team members, community organisations and store leadership teams to promote recruitment and retention of team members
- Manage responsibilities to achieve our public targets that have been set for employment opportunities in relation to the Wesfarmers Reconciliation Action Plan and Kmart’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Plan.
To be successful in this role you’ll have:
- Experience in Indigenous employment, engagement and leading an Indigenous employment team
- The ability to be an effective and positive change agent that continually evaluates and champions innovation
- The ability to plan work effectively and to juggle a number of work priorities simultaneously
- A strong understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and an ability to communicate sensitively, respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in an engaging way
- Demonstrated skills in leadership, relationship building, communication, negotiation, decision making, influencing, coaching, interpersonal and teamwork with a diverse group of stakeholders
- Capability to build relationships, trust and work effectively with external stakeholders and partners such Clontarf and the government
- A strong ability to interpret and analyse data and a commercial mindset to inform the future strategic direction
