The Health and Safety team are a group of experienced and educated professionals who have a passion for safety, injury and well-being. They are a collaborative team that partner closely with their stakeholders to ensure the safety and well-being of our team members, customers, and contractors. Reporting to the Head of Health & Safety, you will be responsible for the safety of all stores, across New Zealand. This role is based in Auckland and will be required to travel frequently to all stores in New Zealand.
What you’ll be doing
As the Safety Manager for New Zealand, you will:
- Set the safety strategy for all New Zealand stores, in line with overall Health and Safety strategy.
- Conduct onsite investigations when incidents occur.
- Monitor site incidents and provide thorough analysis, which a solution focused approach.
- Conduct risk assessments and make recommendations.
- Conduct store safety performance audits.
- Partner collaboratively will all Zone Managers and Store Managers across New Zealand to embed a strong proactive health and safety culture.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A passion for wanting to make Kmart a great place to work and always grow and keep our team members safe.
- A Diploma or Certificate 4 in Workplace Health & Safety.
- Knowledge of New Zealand specific OHS Legislation including a solid understanding of the Accident Compensation Commission.
- Proven experience in reducing key metrics such as lost time injury frequency rate and total recordable injury frequency rate.
- Sound knowledge of ASNZS4801, ISO31000 and legislative provisions around duty of care and reasonably practicable.
- Experience within an Accredited Employer Program environment including ACC audit involvement and preparation.
- Relevant experience dealing with safety regulators, notifiable incidents and navigating the incident management process.
- Critical Risk experience (preferred).
- ICAM (Incident Cause Assessment Methodology) experience ( preferred – training can be provided).
