About the role

Lifeblood's Strategic Transformation & Readiness team is strengthening its capability across strategy, transformation and delivery to help Lifeblood optimise today and build for tomorrow - exploring new opportunities and creating lasting value for Lifeblood and the communities we serve.

As our Exploration Product Lead – Biological Products & Clinical Translation, you'll play a pivotal role in identifying, prioritising and progressing future biological products from research into clinical and operational reality. Working at the intersection of science, healthcare, strategy and innovation, you'll help determine which opportunities are worth pursuing and what it will take to bring them to life. You’ll lead a multidisciplinary squad and work closely with health industry parties, researchers and clinical experts with translating scientific evidence into strategic product decisions and ensuring the team is focused on opportunities that create meaningful value.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and prioritise a portfolio of biological product and clinical translation opportunities.
  • Assess opportunities using desirability, viability and feasibility principles to determine where to invest effort and resources.
  • Translate research findings and clinical evidence into product direction, strategic recommendations and business cases.
  • Shape initiatives from concept through discovery, testing, pilot activities, clinical trials and recommendation.
  • Build strong relationships with senior leaders across Manufacturing & Logistics, clinical functions, research and regulatory bodies.
  • Navigate complex regulatory and approval pathways, including interactions with TGA, NBA and related stakeholders.
  • Lead and coach a high-performing squad, providing context, direction and prioritisation.
  • Prepare executive-level recommendations, evidence packs and governance materials that support strategic decision-making.

Sound interesting? Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Experience leading product, innovation, exploration or strategic initiatives in complex environments.
  • A background in life sciences, biomedical research, biotechnology or a related scientific field.
  • Strong ability to evaluate opportunities through a product and commercial lens.
  • Experience progressing early-stage concepts into pilots, business cases or validated solutions.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, including influencing senior clinical, operational and regulatory leaders.
  • Experience working within regulated environments and navigating governance or approval pathways.
  • The ability to translate complex scientific and clinical information into clear, actionable recommendations for senior leaders and decision-makers.
  • Experience in blood services, biologics, clinical translation, medical devices or related healthcare sectors would be highly regarded.
  • Knowledge of TGA frameworks and experience working closely with research teams to translate evidence into product decisions highly regarded.
