Due to exciting growth within our team, we are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to provide strong technical and people leadership across our multiple engineering squads. Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering, you will work on growing an extraordinary engineering culture with open, safe and fun working environments for our team. You will provide exceptional leadership on complex technology issues and also be responsible for the recruitment, retention, growth and development of the engineering team.

Key responsibilities

  • Build and maintain multiple high performance multi-functional software engineering teams
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, such as product, marketing and sales, to define and execute on product roadmaps and deliver exceptional outcomes
  • Drive, ensuring alignment to standard methodologies and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and learning
  • Monitor and develop teams’ performance, finding opportunities to enhance productivity, collaboration and innovation
  • Grow and lead a team of hard-working engineers through their journey to Agile Maturity
  • Work proactively to ensure the application and benefit of technologies are well understood, including advocacy and support technological solutions of others
  • Work proactively with essential team to deliver architecture roadmaps for products/brands to enable rapid development of new products and services

To be successful you will have the following skills and attributes:

  • Tertiary Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field
  • 3+ years proven experience in leading multiple high performance cross-functional teams, while coaching them to success using agile methodologies and continuous improvement initiatives
  • 8+ years experience working within product development teams, developing and supporting  large scale, maintainable cloud-based (AWS) distributed systems
  • Demonstrated experience in leading software teams and driving technology forward
  • Demonstrated experience in technology integrations and development programs through commercial exploitation
  • Excellence in leading technology, compliance and growth roadmaps
  • A comprehensive understanding of global technology trends and application of technology to business growth
  • Demonstrated experience in development of system engineering
  • Demonstrated experience in developing complex systems, working across full stack, backend services and distributed systems
  • Demonstrated experience in leading engineers in a highly technical and complex operations environment
  • Strong understanding of Microservices architecture including contanerisation and severless technologies
  • Understanding of highly scalable systems
  • Experience with REST API’s
  • Master of agile processes, continuous integration and test automation
  • Extensive AWS experience
