What we do

Our purpose is your better health and wellbeing. We are a trusted partner in helping our members, participants and travellers make more informed healthcare decisions, transact with healthcare systems and generally live healthier lives.

We provide health and medical insurance to over 1.5 million Australian and New Zealand residents. We also provide health insurance to more than 180,000 international students and workers in Australia.

We are Australia's third largest travel insurer and global distributor of travel insurance through our business nib Travel, providing financial protection and assurance to travellers wherever they are in the world. In addition, our nib Thrive business supports those navigating the NDIS by managing budgets, handling invoice payments and ensuring providers stay well-informed. Find out more here.

How we approach 'Life at nib'

Your health and wellbeing
The health and safety of our people is our top priority. We support this through a focus on organisational wellbeing and innovative health and safety programs.

Your work life and flexibility
Flexibility isn't just about where we work. We offer and promote different types of flexibility and create programs to support flexible work arrangements. Our approach drives a more diverse and well workforce.

Examples of flexible work arrangements that may be considered depending on role and business needs include;

  • Part-time employment
  • Job sharing
  • Casual work
  • Phased retirement agreements
  • Variable start and finish times
  • Condensed working weeks
  • Lactation breaks
  • Flexible working hours
  • Time off in lieu

Your development and growth
Employees feel energised and positive about themselves at work when they're learning and being productive. That's why we support employees to develop and focus on their career.

Your sense of belonging
We want nib to feel like a community. Through our experiences and 'moments that matter' we prioritise connection and relationships. We continue to be ambitious in our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion pursuits.

In the community with nibGive
Our community programs create different ways for our employees, members, travellers and the broader community to learn about, connect with and be part of nib's social purpose. Our charitable foundation supports health initiatives and community resilience, driving positive change where it's needed most.

Culture at nib

quote image
I have been fortunate enough to have a role that gives me great breadth and influence to complement nib’s diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. By collaborating with our brand partnerships, nib Foundation partners and Community partners we can identify shared commitments to diversity, equity and inclusion and work together to make genuine progress in this space. I’ve learned that diversity, equity and inclusion will continue to change and evolve and the only way to build safe and trusted environments is to listen, learn and be genuine with your approach. This pays dividends in terms of creating healthy and productive relationships across our business, and in the communities in which we operate. I’m also proud of the fact that I can share the knowledge and experiences I’ve been afforded via my role at nib with friends, family and peers and actively advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion whether it be at the leadership or dinner table.

At nib, change, innovation and adaption is the norm. Our long-term success lies in us being prepared and agile enough to adapt to changes in the market, technology and society. The same applies to our employee experience.
