Job Overview:

Provide leadership in the areas of safety, health, and environment, and aid in developing a culture that values EHS in the business. Ensure that all site activities are completed in accordance with relevant Environmental and Health and Safety regulatory and PepsiCo policy requirements. The EHS Manager works closely with site personnel to ensure all obligations are met, certifications are maintained, risks identified and controlled, and all relevant EHS training is completed to deliver continual improvements across EHS metrics.


Responsibilities

  • Lead EHS metric improvements across the site and continually improve the site’s EHS culture.
  • Maintain and improve the necessary EHS standards to ensure environmental performance, the health & safety of site personnel, visitors, contractors & neighbours, whilst ensuring the Quaker Forrestfield business is compliant with PepsiCo standards and all applicable legislation.
  • Implement the ANZ strategic EHS plans at the Forrestfield site.
  • Maintain OHSAS18001/ASNZS4801 and ISO14001 certifications for the site.
  • Maintain site business continuity plans to meet Global Security standards and ensure annual testing and review of the plans, including scenario-based testing to continuously improve the plan.
  • Co-ordinate the efforts of, and coach personnel through the development of critical documentation and tools to support risk assessments, safe work practices, and adverse event/near miss reporting & investigation via MyEHS.
  • Provide EHS direction, assistance, and support for corrective actions and recommendations to assure site EHS improvements.
  • Help create a culture of zero harm within the site team by demonstrating honest, genuine care and passion for EHS.
  • Implement site workplace inspections and audits to identify work hazards, exposures and significant environmental aspects. Identify trends and work with site personnel to develop and implement improvement and corrective action plans.
  • Ensure documentation and records are maintained in accordance with all EHS regulatory and corporate requirements. Meet all corporate and regulatory requirements for reporting of EHS data.
  • Review and assist in the development of new equipment and processes to ensure optimum EHS practices are integrated as part of any change.
  • Lead and develop the site EHS team, ensuring all EHS & gas safety programs, procedures, training, work practices, and controls are effectively implemented.
  • Collaborate with the ANZ EHS team in the identification, development and implementation of EHS goals which will positively impact and add value to the organization.
  • Implement PepsiCo Recon at the site to support the achievement of resource conservation targets.
  • In conjunction with the ANZ EHS team, monitor developing EHS regulatory requirements and risk initiatives; analyse potential impacts on system operations; and provide management with information as appropriate.
  • Maintain appropriate site records to verify compliance with all mandatory EHS reporting programs applicable to Forrestfield, including the Australian Packaging Covenant (APC), National Greenhouse Gas & Energy Reporting (NGER), National Pollutant Inventory (NPI), and other relevant state-based programs.
  • Liaise as appropriate with local regulatory bodies and ensure the site maintains all required EHS licenses & permits to operate.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in an Environmental or Health and Safety discipline, or related field.
  • Have a solid, demonstrable working knowledge of local regulatory compliance requirements (across EHS).
