Your opportunity
As a Principal Planning Officer in the Strategic Operational Planning Unit you will influence the planning that underpins QFD’s statewide emergency management capability. In this highly visible role you’ll engage across senior leaders, operations, and cross-agency partners.
You’ll enjoy the opportunity to shape modernised planning frameworks and capability uplift programs and do work that directly contributes to community safety and resilience.
Based at Kedron Emergency Service Complex, you’ll use your experience to:
- Undertake strategic planning to support QFD operations
- Lead, promote and support a teamwork approach, the achievement of outcomes and ensure the effective delivery of services
- Coordinate the development and implementation of whole-of-government/whole-of-community hazard specific best practice strategies, policies, frameworks and plans
- Provide expert advice on risk, planning, disaster management and operational preparedness.
- Undertake research and strategic analysis to identify emerging risks, trends and capability requirements.
What you’ll bring
What you’ll bring
- Demonstrated experience in strategic and operational planning within disaster or emergency management environments.
- Knowledge of Queensland Disaster Management Arrangements (QDMA) and planning frameworks.
- High-level analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to influence across agencies, teams and leadership levels
- Excellent written communication skills, including complex reports and operational documents.
- Ability to support or lead planning during operational events, including participation in on-call arrangements.
