We are looking for a Specialist balanced machines to work closely with our key site stakeholders to provide expert balanced machine engineering expertise across the RTIO fleet of balanced machine
This is a great opportunity for a technical specialist engineer to provide engineering support to site stakeholders to improve the safety and reliability of our balanced machine fleet

Reporting to the Principal Engineer Fixed Plant Assets, you will be required to:
- Undertake design calculations in accordance with AS4324.1
- Undertake machine stability assessments
- Review and approve complex engineering methodologies
- Undertake design engineering and drafting including provision of calculations and CAD drawings
- Create engineering procedures for structural repairs
- Extensive knowledge in Hydraulic Systems
- Provide engineering design basis for control system integration
- Provide on-site support for major component change-out
What you’ll bring
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Bachelor of Engineering
- Extensive knowledge of AS4324.1
- Demonstrated understanding of Australian and International Standards relating to Balance Machines
- 10+ years of experience working on Balance Machines
- Proficiency in AutoCAD software

Our integrated iron ore network is supported by our Operations Centre (OC) in Perth, a state-of-the-art facility that enables all the autonomous trucks, trains and drills at our mines, ports and rail systems to be operated from a single location. The Centre incorporates visualisation and collaboration tools to provide real-time information across our demand chain and allows us to optimise our mining, maintenance and logistic activities across the Pilbara in a way never before possible. Located near the Perth domestic airport, the OC operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to coordinate our integrated network of mines, rail, and ports from 1,500km away.
This role is based at Rio Tinto Iron Ore’s Operations Centre in Perth working a Monday to Friday roster, with travel to the Pilbara as required.
