The opportunity
With a wealth of projects in the pipeline, we are seeking to engage a skilled Engineer to be a part of our Engineering Services Branch within Roads and Maritime Services.
Reporting to the Bridge Engineer, you will be responsible to provide specialist engineering design advice and services for bridges and structures in order to achieve durable bridges and structures which perform to standard and expectation and minimise technical risk to the RMS.
Critical to your success is the ability to work effectively in/and across multi-functional teams and interface with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, whilst maintaining a high level of work ethic, being able to work independently and being passionate about driving our organisation’s safety performance. The ideal candidate will have strong communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills with proven capability to deliver results.

The salary for this position is RMS Engineer Level 3 / USS 10 ($121,844- $133,155), plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
Essential requirements
- A four year civil engineering degree from an Australian university or an equivalent overseas qualification acceptable for professional recognition within Australia.
- Experience in the provision of bridge and structural engineering technical advice and the management of technical risk in infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate technical feasibility studies, including the provision of broad costing, risk analysis, design analysis, and cost to benefit analysis to facilitate decision making.
- Sound knowledge of bridge standards, specifications and relevant Australian Standards
- Proven experience in rehabilitation and capacity upgrade of various types of bridges
- Team player with good communication skills and ability to deliver high quality design solutions for complex bridge rehabilitation projects within the tight timeframes and budget
- Possess a current motor vehicle driver license
