Don’t come for an easy career. Stay for a rewarding one.
At Santos, we do work that matters and always have. When you join us, so will you.
As a global energy company, we’re committed to providing reliable and affordable energy to help create a better world for everyone.
To make it happen, we work as One Team and ask ourselves, “How can we?” (Even when others say, “We can’t.”)
We’re proud of our history as pioneers, problem-solvers, and pragmatists. And as we strive to achieve our Vision2040, we’ve got our sights set on a culture that is focussed and disciplined to drive value, and entrepreneurial and energised to leave a positive legacy.
The difference isn’t just thinking big – it’s delivering on it too.
As part of the team, you’ll tackle one of the most complex problems of our time. It’s no easy task, but nothing rewarding ever is.
What You’ll Do:
Santos’ Brisbane office is the focal point of our Upstream Development and Projects Procurement Team. We partner with our stakeholders across Australia and PNG to deliver a wide range of infrastructure to produce natural gas, decarbonise our operations and partner with local communities. We deliver the full remit of complex infrastructure construction from roads, bridges, dams, pipelines, power generation facilities, compression facilities, power lines, water management, solar and battery systems, and much more. Our supply chain is global with materials and equipment secured from across the globe.
The primary objective of our Procurement Category Advisers is to shape and implement procurement strategy across our Australian and PNG assets. Our team has an enviable set of projects with both long-term continuous development as well as large one-off projects. We are seeking commercially astute candidates that are seeking a procurement career in the energy industry. You may not have direct industry experience but have proven commercial skills and are passionate about acquiring energy industry knowledge and experience.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Professionally representing the Procurement and Santos internally and externally with local and global suppliers
- Working closely with key stakeholders to deliver large scale physical asset contracting across power, gas, oil, water and data systems
- Designing and implementing commercial strategies to support our assets (strategic sourcing, contracting and contract management)
- Managing and maintaining health of assigned contracts and supplier relationships in line with the approved category strategy
- Identity opportunities to increase community participation outcomes across Australia and PNG
What You’ll Bring:
While we seek candidates with a strong commercial acumen and tertiary qualification in business, commerce, law, engineering or supply chain management, it’s the mindset and core professional skills we are focused on that will be critical to your success. This will include an ability to work alongside technical and business professionals, possessing a team-oriented approach, strong professional skills and an ability to learn and develop in a technical contracting environment.
What you’ll get:
Here, you’ll be amongst high-calibre people and get to work on industry-leading projects. We don’t shy away from solving tough problems at pace. We like it that way. You can expect to be challenged and supported; to learn and grow.
At Santos, we’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone can thrive. This means a place that is safe; where you are valued and respected, and your contribution is recognised and appreciated. Join us, and you’ll play a role in this too.
Each of our sites offer access to specific amenities that aim to create the best possible benefits to your health, wellbeing and performance. In Brisbane this includes Onsite Gym facilities, Onsite GP services and many more employee benefits.
What you’re part of:
Everywhere you turn you will be a part of a team who are coming together to contribute to our single uniting purpose - to provide reliable and affordable energy to help create a better world for everyone
And because it’s not only what you do, but how you do it, you will also contribute to improving the living standards of the communities where we operate, building enduring and respectful relationships that serve a generation. It’s about each of us, and all of us – together.
How to Apply:
Applications must be submitted via the online recruitment system before COB 30th October 2026
A requirement of this role is that you will need to have in place the legal work rights for Australia to apply.
