What you’ll do:
Based in Brisbane you will lead the development and execution of health, safety and security strategies across our AUPNG Onshore operations. You will play a critical leadership role in fostering a safety-first culture, ensuring compliance, managing risk, and supporting operational excellence across a complex and high-risk environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading, mentoring and developing a high-performing Health, Safety & Security team
- Driving Santos' "Always Safe" value and embedding a proactive safety culture across all levels of the business
- Partnering with senior leaders to provide expert advice on HSS risks, opportunities and strategic priorities.
- Developing and implementing fit-for-purpose HSS strategies, programs and initiatives that support safe and reliable operations
- Leading risk identification, incident investigations, corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, corporate standards and governance requirements.
- Building capability through training, coaching and the development of safety competencies across employees and contractors.
- Monitoring performance through data, reporting and analytics to drive informed decision-making and ongoing improvement. Representing the organisation with regulators, industry bodies, contractors and community stakeholders to promote HSS excellence.
What you’ll bring:
You are a collaborative and influential HSS leader with a proven track record of delivering safety excellence within complex operational environments. You are comfortable working with senior stakeholders, leading teams through change, and creating a culture where safety, accountability and high performance thrive.
To be successful, you will bring:
- Extensive experience in Health, Safety and Security leadership, including significant experience within the oil & gas, resources or other high-risk industries.
- Demonstrated success leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong knowledge of HSE legislation, risk management frameworks and compliance requirements.
- Experience managing contractor performance and supporting major operational or project activities
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build credibility at all organisational levels.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, supported by a continuous improvement mindset.
- The ability to manage competing priorities while delivering results in a dynamic operational environment.
- A tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety and Lead Auditor qualifications in health and safety and/or environmental management systems.
