Production Controller - Brisbane, QLD, Australia

At Santos, we do work that matters and always have. When you join us, so will you.

As a global energy company, we’re committed to providing reliable and affordable energy to help create a better world for everyone.

To make it happen, we work as One Team and ask ourselves, “How can we?” (Even when others say, “We can’t.”)

We’re proud of our history as pioneers, problem-solvers, and pragmatists. And as we strive to achieve our Vision2040, we’ve got our sights set on a culture that is focused and disciplined to drive value, and entrepreneurial and energised to leave a positive legacy.

The difference isn’t just thinking big – it’s delivering on it too.

As part of the team, you’ll tackle one of the most complex problems of our time. It’s no easy task, but nothing rewarding ever is.

Based in our Brisbane office, you will work as part of a team delivering safe remote operation, optimisation, and oversight of Santos' upstream assets — maximising production value, minimising emissions, and serving as the critical interface between commercial operations, field-based teams, maintenance, and drilling & completions across the Production Cooper function.

This role will see you remotely operate and optimise facilities, wells, and pipelines from a Brisbane-based control room, respond to safety and production-critical issues, validate and report production data, analyse condition monitoring equipment for early failure detection, and collaborate with Santos Energy Solutions and Commercial Operations — with opportunities to develop expertise in remote control systems, condition monitoring, and cross-functional stakeholder coordination.

You will navigate and coordinate real-time production decisions, operational efficiencies, and rapid incident responses in a fast-paced, 24/7 control room environment managing complex, geographically dispersed upstream assets under strict compliance frameworks.

Your strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and technical systems skills formed across process plant operations, control room environments, and upstream oil and gas industries will see you excel in managing multiple real-time operational priorities, overcome the challenge of coordinating across diverse stakeholder groups — from field crews to commercial teams — and bring disciplined control room processes (alarm management, shift handover, situational awareness) to lead to maximised production output, minimised emissions, early detection of equipment failures, and seamless coordination across operations, maintenance, and commercial functions.

Key accountabilities include:

You're recognised as a calm, reliable operator who thrives in high-tempo, safety-critical environments, skilled at building relationships across field, engineering, and commercial teams while maintaining rigorous operational standards, experienced in DCS and SCADA control room operations, production data validation and reporting, and fast-paced upstream environments — ideally holding a Cert III in Process Plant Operation or Gas Supply Industry Operations (or equivalent tertiary/trade qualifications) with proficiency in systems such as SAP, SCADA, and DCS platforms.

You will also be able to demonstrate the following:

Here, you’ll be amongst high-calibre people and get to work on industry-leading projects. We don’t shy away from solving tough problems at pace. We like it that way. You can expect to be challenged and supported; to learn and grow.

At Santos, we’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone can thrive. This means a place that is safe; where you are valued and respected, and your contribution is recognised and appreciated. Join us, and you’ll play a role in this too.

Each of our sites offer access to specific amenities that aim to create the best possible benefits to your health, wellbeing and performance. In Brisbane this includes this includes Onsite Gym facilities, Onsite GP services and many more employee benefits.

Everywhere you turn you will be a part of a team who are coming together to contribute to our single uniting purpose - to provide reliable and affordable energy to help create a better world for everyone

And because it’s not only what you do, but how you do it, you will also contribute to improving the living standards of the communities where we operate, building enduring and respectful relationships that serve a generation. It’s about each of us, and all of us – together.

Applications must be submitted via the online recruitment system before COB 12th November.

A requirement of this role is that you will need to have in place the legal work rights for Australia to apply.
