What does this role entail?
Reporting into the Head of Transport, this position is responsible for planning, organising and overseeing the safe and efficient transportation of goods to achieve optimum customer service and cost outcomes. The role is involved in ensuring compliance with all safety, legal and regulatory requirements for transport, while providing insights around freight performance and development opportunities. The successful applicant will be expected to deliver high quality, timely and well considered outcomes and advice, and help bolster our reputation by building lasting relationships with stakeholders.
What does a day in the life of the Freight Optimisation – Delivery Lead look like?
- Coordinate and schedule transportation of goods
- Track shipments and maintain accurate records of transportation activities
- Work with vendors to ensure timely delivery of goods
- Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and safety standards
- Track transportation budget to help identify cost-saving opportunities
- Maintaining records and documentation
- Monitoring performance and providing feedback
- Organising specialised transport services
What do I need to bring to this role?
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in the logistics industry, specifically in route planning and optimisation
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.
- Solid understanding of supply chain principles and geographical knowledge across Australia.
- Proficiency in using logistics software and tools, including Transport Management Systems.
- Highly developed organisational and planning skills
