About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Domain Lead with a strong passion for delivering business solutions using modern GIS technologies. This role leads the Spatial Systems domain, a critical capability for Sydney Water, and plays a key role in the delivery and evolution of Sydney Water’s strategic Spatial Platform, built on GE Smallworld technology. You will be deeply involved in the hands‑on technical implementation of the platform while providing strong technical leadership to the development team.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Providing technical leadership across the Spatial Systems domain
  • Leading development teams to deliver the initial Spatial Platform scope and ongoing enhancements
  • Playing a hands‑on role in the implementation of Sydney Water’s strategic Spatial Platform (GE Smallworld)
  • Working closely with the Domain Architect to define, maintain, and deliver the Spatial Systems roadmap
  • Ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with Sydney Water’s Digital Strategy
  • Contributing as a key member of the Digital Business Programs – Customer Engagement delivery team

About You

  • Strong background in software engineering leadership, ideally within GIS or spatial platforms
  • Deep technical experience with GE Smallworld and/or enterprise GIS platforms
  • Proven ability to lead development teams while remaining technically hands‑on
  • Experience working with architects to translate strategy into executable roadmaps
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and delivery focus

Essential Requirements

  • You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of submitting your application to be considered for this role.
  • At least Ten years’ experience as a software developer and technology specialist, including Spatial solutions.
  • Experience dealing with multiple stakeholders, including third party vendors / Systems Integrators.
  • The ability to have complex technical conversations from a business-oriented capacity and conveying technical ideas in plain language.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science or similar technical fields
