As the Network Engineering Specialist within Online Charging System Technology, you'll...
- Work within OCS Mobility - Domain Engineering, performing the design, development, deployment, lifecycle, operation and continuous improvement of OCS platforms and products.
- Provide support for level 4 diagnostic activities for customer faults and on the rare occasion may be asked to represent Telstra to customers experiencing the fault.
- Develop platform specific technology functionality for business requirements that leverage opportunities from evolving and future technologies.
- Deliver continuous integration and continuous deployment while ensuring the stability, functionality and performance of the platform.
- Responsible for developing Acceptance test cases, executing the tests that validate the product specifications and document the test results.
- Own the product functionality and focus on solving platform and interoperability issues and carry out expert level diagnostic investigation for services and product issues with service impact.
- Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Products teams, IT, Operations and other stakeholders to implement and certify new products and services with focus on customer experience.
- Identify constraints and unexpected roadblocks. Try to find alternative methods for delivery.
- Can identify project decisions that may adversely impact the customer experience and escalate appropriately.
- Support product business owners in definition and management of product roadmap and business cases for new services as well as enhancement of existing services.
- Validate design aspects of new HW and SW releases for platforms.
- Interact with third party suppliers and other service / product development organizations and participate in product / service releases.
- Ability to create technical specification and requirements and work independently and with no direction/supervision. Able to quickly adapt to new or evolving technologies related to new product & services requiring validation or research.
To be successful in the role, you'll have…
Mandatory
- University Graduate in Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.
- 2+ years Telecommunications experience. Strong technical skills and demonstrated experience with Online Charging Systems.
- Deep Understanding of IN and Charging Architecture, technologies and concepts.
- Experience with Ericsson Charging Node such CCN, SDP, Converge Charging, DXP.
- In-depth understanding of UMTS/GSM/GPRS and wireless system protocols including CAMEL, TCAP, ISUP, and/or SIP
- Must have good knowledge on Operating System (Solaris, Unix, Linux)
- Must have good knowledge of Prepaid Lifecycle and Postpaid Bill Cycle concept
- Should be comfortable at reading Protocol Analyzer Traces.
- Should have knowledge of Soap, XML and Network protocols (TCP, HTTP and HTTPS).
- Have good GSM /UMTS/LTE understanding.

- 2+ years of Converged charging or Billing system experience (e.g. MATRIXX, E///)
- Knowledge on upstream IT provisioning systems.
- Knowledge of Shell scripting, Perl and Java will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of PCRF, DRA & GGSN will be an added advantage.
- Intermediate to advanced level proficiency with basic reporting tools such as SPLUNK.
- Familiar with database concepts and software development skills
- Liaise with vendors and serve internal customers for new and sustained core network engineering features and technology/products testing and validation. Ability to work cross functionally to identify network issues
