To support such a vision, we are currently seeking to recruit an exceptional Senior Commercial Specialist who will be driving the development of Telstra Enterprise and growth by working collaboratively across sales, delivery, bid management and Telstra operations to deliver competitive proposals for our customers in an auditable and high quality manner.
Please note this is fixed term full time position until 30th June 2019 with a view to go permanent. We are flexible with the location of the role and hence looking for someone to start in either Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart, or Adelaide.
A little bit about the role
Reporting to the General Manager – New Business & Governance (Stuart Alexander) you’ll form part of a dynamic, responsive and a unique team which is responsible for governing customised ICT solutions to ensure that appropriate elements relating to commercials, costings and other aspects are obtained prior to customer submission. This team contributes to Telstra’s business strategy in becoming a world class ICT service provider domestically and around the world. We offer a full suite of mobility, cloud, security, contact centre and enterprise services to our business and enterprise customers, as well as voice and connectivity services to customers globally.
This is no ordinary Senior Commercial Specialist role. The Telstra Enterprise (TE) business has been identified as an area of strategic growth for Telstra and is focused on providing business customers of all sizes with an integrated range of technology solutions and managed services. In this role you will operate as part of the dynamic, responsive and supportive New Business team, which governs customised services deals with the purpose of achieving TE revenue, profitability and customer advocacy targets.

Role Requirements:
- Act as deal teams' "single point of contact" for deal solution governance, and provide help/guide bid responses through costing, pricing, approvals, submission and governance.
- Advise, influence and support diverse stakeholders including Telstra executives, solution architects, commercial managers, sales specialists, operations/delivery managers and risk managers.
- Identify key issues impacting deals and drive resolution in a way that balances Telstra's competitiveness against the need to deliver high quality services at an appropriate margin.
- Support the commercial construct of new opportunities and ensure that the inputs provided by the Service Solution team are correctly reflected in the costs which are then passed to pricing. Also perform consistency checks on pricing models received, against submitted costs.
- Engage with Bid Management, Pricing, Commercial Management and Legal in order to work through various risks and issues relating to the cost model and the commercial construct of the opportunity.
In order to hit the ground running we are looking for individuals who can confidently demonstrate the following

Exposure to working on bids, specifically within the Information Technology (IT) space

Completion of a relevant tertiary degree or sound proven practical experience within the industry

Strong experience relating specifically to new business and working on bids

Demonstrated understanding of both price modelling and financial modelling

Experience of being involved in the risk assessment processes regarding bids along with the commercial aspects of a deal (including legal elements regarding contractual and financial aspects)

Experienced and confident working with general managers, directors and executive management
