Transport for NSW is the lead agency of the NSW Transport cluster. Our role is to lead the development of a safe, efficient, integrated transport system that keeps people and goods moving, connects communities and shapes the future of our cities, centres and regions.
We are responsible for strategy, planning, policy, regulation, funding allocation and other non-service delivery functions for all modes of transport in NSW including road, rail, ferry, light rail, point to point, regional air, cycling and walking.
We focus on improving the customer experience and contract public and private operators to deliver customer-focused transport services on our behalf.
We also lead the procurement of transport infrastructure and oversee delivery through project delivery offices and industry delivery partners.

The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Traffic Engineering Officer in Training to develop and gain experience in Traffic Engineering by joining Transport for NSW.
You will be given the chance to resolve different traffic engineering challenges, coordinating inputs from other technical disciplines and stakeholders in order to resolve complex traffic, safety and temporary works issues.
As a Traffic Engineer in Training you’ll be working full time for Transport for NSW for four years and completing an on-line Associate Degree in Engineering(Civil) with Western Sydney University, The College.
What we Offer
- Our Trainee Program is a four year program that combines full time paid work and part time study.
- You will gain on the job practical experience whilst completing your Associate Degree (Civil) in partnership with Western Sydney University.

- The salary for this position is USS 2 -3 ($54,801 - $63,093) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.

You are a self-motivated, committed and collaborative individual who is able to analyse, research and solve problems, supported by effective oral and high quality written communication capabilities.
