Transport for NSW is the lead agency of the NSW Transport cluster. Our role is to lead the development of a safe, efficient, integrated transport system that keeps people and goods moving, connects communities and shapes the future of our cities, centres and regions.
We are responsible for strategy, planning, policy, regulation, funding allocation and other non-service delivery functions for all modes of transport in NSW including road, rail, ferry, light rail, point to point, regional air, cycling and walking.
We focus on improving the customer experience and contract public and private operators to deliver customer-focused transport services on our behalf.
We also lead the procurement of transport infrastructure and oversee delivery through project delivery offices and industry delivery partners.
- As a deployed resource these positions are based in Sydney but will work onsite at various locations across the metropolitan area taking advantage of our flexible working options.
- Transport Service Grade 8 ($118,015 - $132,176) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.

About the team:
The Rail Delivery team brings together specialised knowledge, expertise and delivery experience to lead the delivery of all rail projects across Greater Sydney and Regional & Outer Metropolitan, ensuring outcomes meet client expectations. With a $25 billion portfolio of projects including More Trains, More Services, Digital Systems and Automatic Train Protection, new rolling stock including the New Intercity Fleet and Regional Rail Fleet, Transport Access Program and many other diverse infrastructure projects to improve access to the NSW transport system.
The Opportunity:
Right now, we have a number of opportunities for Deputy Project Managers to join the Rail Delivery team’s Digital Systems Program. These positions play key roles in implementing project management delivery plans and establish project management methodologies in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
Deputy Project Managers work closely with other Rail Systems, Signalling and Telecommunications professionals within the wider TfNSW community to influence improvements and innovations. They are responsible for providing advice and input into project management and project development processes including concept design, planning, tendering, construction, commissioning and transitioning.

Essential requirements:

Tertiary qualifications in a Planning, Design, Environmental, Engineering, Construction or Commercial / Business discipline or equivalent experience.
- Experience within Rail Technology, Systems or Signalling.
- Experience of managing Track possessions and familiarity with Sydney Trains Possessions Management is preferred though not compulsory
