Transport for NSW is the lead agency of the NSW Transport cluster. Our role is to lead the development of a safe, efficient, integrated transport system that keeps people and goods moving, connects communities and shapes the future of our cities, centres and regions.
We are responsible for strategy, planning, policy, regulation, funding allocation and other non-service delivery functions for all modes of transport in NSW including road, rail, ferry, light rail, point to point, regional air, cycling and walking.
We focus on improving the customer experience and contract public and private operators to deliver customer-focused transport services on our behalf.
We also lead the procurement of transport infrastructure and oversee delivery through project delivery offices and industry delivery partners.

About the team
Major Works is the major brownfield construction hub @ Sydney Trains. Providing Engineering and Maintenance work across the Sydney Trains Network. There are over 1000 staff in the directorate.
The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an infrastructure worker signal fitter to be a part of the Project Operations team with the Major Works division at Sydney Trains. The primary purpose of the role is to ensure safe and reliable operation of signalling infrastructure by carrying out construction, support, routine maintenance, inspections and corrective works in accordance with Signalling Technical Maintenance Plans, Signalling Construction Standards and Infrastructure Engineering Manuals, to assist the work group to meet agreed specifications and scope of works in an effective manner.
The role will assist the rail signals team by undertaking on track construction and fitting of signalling & communications components, track circuit bonding duties and assisting during electrical renewals, maintenance, and emergencies. The Role will be according to a roster which will include nights, weekends and away work.

About you
You will need to hold current Trade Certificate as Fitter and be willing to achieve a statement of competency for AS105 or AS106 – internal Sydney trains qualifications.
