Transport for NSW is the lead agency of the NSW Transport cluster. Our role is to lead the development of a safe, efficient, integrated transport system that keeps people and goods moving, connects communities and shapes the future of our cities, centres and regions.
We are responsible for strategy, planning, policy, regulation, funding allocation and other non-service delivery functions for all modes of transport in NSW including road, rail, ferry, light rail, point to point, regional air, cycling and walking.
We focus on improving the customer experience and contract public and private operators to deliver customer-focused transport services on our behalf.
We also lead the procurement of transport infrastructure and oversee delivery through project delivery offices and industry delivery partners.

The Division
The Regional and Outer Metropolitan division is focused on understanding the particular needs of regional communities across NSW and delivering customer-centred integrated transport services and infrastructure.
The opportunity
In this newly created role, the primary purpose of the Program Officer undertakes diverse program management and related support activities to contribute to program enablement and support senior leaders to drive discipline and consistency in the management and execution of priority programs of work across Regional and Outer Metropolitan (ROM).
What you will be involved in
The successful candidate will be responsible keeping abreast of matters affecting Transport for NSW from both internal and external sources from a strategic perspective. Additionally, this role will be accountable for;
- Coordinate the implementation of program management systems and processes for large projects including, maintaining program establishment, governance and reporting systems and processes.
- Provide a range of program management and support services, including preparation of reports and briefs, coordinating resources, maintaining documentation and implementing and monitoring plans, to ensure outcomes are achieved on time, on budget, to quality standards and individual priority programs are supported.
- Support stakeholder management processes including workshops, provide support to stakeholders and engage with, influence and build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels
- Oversee and monitor the delivery of sub-programs, ensuring completion in accordance with relevant guidelines, quality, deadlines at or below budget
- Maintain accurate and complete records of work activities in accordance with legislative requirements, Transport’s information and records management compliance, information security and privacy policies.
- Undertake the secretariat role for the project workgroups, taking ownership of coordinating papers, related actions and compile progress activity to ensure that task outcomes are achieved..
About you
As the Program Officer you will be collaborating with team members to ensure that information and reporting is current, timely and relevant.
This role will be establishing and implementing streamlined procedures to ensure program management is delivered in a coordinated, cohesive, cost effective and timely manner.
You need to have demonstrated skills and experience in project management systems and business improvement processes. You also need to have demonstrated experience in working with information management systems, analysing and reporting on business and project performance in a large complex business environment.
