As Business Development Manager (TRaCE), you will bring your passion for clean energy and recycling, to develop and support delivery of strategic initiatives that will enable industry-university research collaborations. You will utilise a range of new initiatives including a SME Innovation Voucher (Small to Medium Enterprise) Program and Industry-Academia Mobility Program, to support the development of new partnerships and opportunities, and contribute to a thriving innovation ecosystem for the recycling and clean energy sectors.
The Trailblazer for Recycling and Clean Energy (TRaCE) aims to accelerate the development of clean energy and recycling technologies from research to products into global markets.
The $280M program spans the innovation lifecycle, from research and commercialisation through to de-risking, demonstration, deployment, and manufacturing, and is underpinned by critical workforce skills, cultural change, and university workplace reform. TRaCE will create new patents, bring new products to market, deliver critical skills for the recycling and clean energy economy, and contribute to our net zero emissions target.

In this role you will:
- Lead and grow a pipeline of business opportunities by supporting collaboration between industry and academic staff, driving commercial revenue.
- Build and develop relationships with a range of stakeholders to identify opportunities, promote the University’s research capabilities and support entrepreneurship initiatives.
- Work closely with the University’s Knowledge Exchange and Enterprise teams to optimise your model of service, manage priorities, and provide reporting on research contracts, intellectual property agreements and financial matters relating to TRaCE research projects.
This fixed term (until June ’27) position is full time and will be located at the Callaghan Campus (Awabakal and Worimi land).

What we offer
The remuneration for this position is from $102,667 + 17% superannuation and is commensurate with skills and experience.

- Excellent written and oral communication skills with an awareness of the importance of relationship building and engaging professional interpersonal, influencing, negotiation and communication skills.
- Relevant systems knowledge and demonstrated high level computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), Adobe and MS Outlook.
