About the Role:
Working in your capacity as a taxation expert, you will take either a lead or a supporting role in providing tax advisory services to the business on corporate taxes supporting emerging and expansion projects. The Senior role would see you extend your advice to merger and acquisition activities as well. In addition, the role will involve working with the tax team to ensure timely compliance with corporate tax (both Australian and foreign) & Petroleum Resource Rent Tax (PRRT) obligations.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide advice and training on all tax matters with an emphasis on emerging and expansion projects
- Provide advice on merger and acquisition activities. (Australian and foreign as may be required) (Senior role)
- Facilitate due diligence assistance in relation to existing and new ventures (Senior role)
- Provide timely advice to the Tax Manager, the business and project leaders in relation to key changes in tax laws in Australia and for foreign operations if required
- Assist with advocacy initiatives in Australia
- Working with the ATO under Woodside's Annual Compliance Arrangement.
- Review/prepare annual and monthly corporate tax filings (e.g. income tax returns, withholding tax) for Australian operations
- Review/prepare monthly and annual tax filings for foreign operations in conjunction with in-country external tax advisers (if required).
- Assist with the preparation and review of annual accounts, with an emphasis on tax estimate calculations for the year-end and half year reporting periods.
- Coordinate payment of tax liabilities.
- Assist Contracting and procurement with the negotiation of contracts for goods and services.
- Assist with the design, implementation and integration of new tax systems and processes.
- Lead tax function improvement/teaming initiatives
Skills & Experience:
- Professional qualification in a relevant field
- Tertiary level education with postgraduate qualification (CA, CPA or Masters of Tax)
- Experience in the provision of high quality corporate taxation advice including both domestic and international tax matters and the support of emerging/expanding projects and M&A transactions
- Extensive experience in corporate income tax (and preferably Petroleum Resource Rent Tax) gained from within a multinational corporation or chartered/legal firm (resources industry experience an advantage, but not essential).
- Pro-active ability to take a lead role in providing tax advisory services to the business with strong ability to communicate issues/risks in a clear and articulate manner
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain positive working and stakeholder relationships both internally and externally
- Some experience in PSC environments will be an advantage, but not essential.
