About the opportunity
We are seeking an extensively experienced Director, Technical Support Services to join our Central Operations Services team. As the Director, Technical Support Services (TSS) you will be the strategic and operational lead for the unit, representing TSS interests in PSU-wide decision-making processes.
This position will see you focusing on anticipating and proactively meeting the needs of the University from a technical services and research infrastructure perspective, to ensure the University is well-placed to compete on a global scale. You will drive a safety-first agenda and embed system safety principles in all activities, decisions and governance structures.
This is a senior engagement role focusing on driving high-quality client-focused outcomes for the University that support the aims of the Strategic Plan and to deliver maximum operational value at the highest efficiency and effectiveness.
About you

- experience in defining and delivering organisational change to promote engagement and support for change
- experience in leading educational technical services and scientific laboratories (ideally in a tertiary education institution)
- strong leadership skills with the ability to lead a large and diverse team that is effective, engaged and focused on delivering results
- high levels of influencing skills with the ability to partner and develop relationships with key stakeholders
- experience in the definition of required infrastructure, equipment and staff organisation to support readiness of a new laboratory operating environment

As part of the Operations portfolio, COS is responsible for the strategic asset management of the University’s infrastructure assets and the delivery of customer centric, quality operational services for our internal clients (staff, researchers, academics and ultimately students). COS consists of four portfolios that collectively achieve this objective:
- Technical Support Services (TSS) including myLab
- Asset Management and Operations
- Shared Services Centre
- Service Excellence, including enablement functions such as Metrics & Reporting, L&D, Strategy, Continuous Improvement, Contract Management, WHS, Relationship Management, Planning & scheduling etc.
