About the role:
Reporting to the Client Delivery Director this role is responsible for providing high quality technical advice (as subject matter experts in their respective technology stream(s)), providing technical leadership in alignment with the Technical Delivery Process (TDP), and maintaining the architectural integrity of systems and services in support of the Optus Managed Network Services on the Home Affairs account.
In addition, the Lead Architect has HR responsibilities including resource management and planning, work take-on, mentoring and recruitment
*** This role involves work for the Australian Government and will potentially have access to classified information/resources. As such, a security clearance is required and therefore it is a requirement that the successful candidate be an Australian Citizen.***
Responsibilities:
The Lead Architect and Operational Architect are responsible for:
Technical Oversight of the implementation of change
- Technical Leadership including performing the role of Technical Lead on medium size projects (large projects may require a dedicated Technical Lead)
- Ownership of architectural documentation (including System Architecture Descriptions (SAD)) and the relevant branches of the System Breakdown Structure (SBS)
Governance
- Architectural assurance role (including reviewing Solution Proposals for architectural validity and completeness)
Lifecycle Evolution
- Development of Roadmaps and Strategies relevant to applicable systems
Pre-Sales Assistance
- Contributing to preliminary customer workshops and planning efforts
- Assisting Solution Owners to develop sound solutions (including contributing technical content to Solution Proposals (SP), Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and resource planning)
Operational Support
- 3rd Level Support for incident and problem management (including liaison with the customer, vendors, SNOC and partners)
- IT Service Continuity analysis (understanding of Redundancy, Failure Modes and Resiliency of systems)
- Capacity/Availability Planning (with System Owners, including proactive upgrades)
- Supportability awareness (with System Owners, including development of the Support Model and knowledge of the currency of hardware, software and maintenance contracts)
Experience required:
- Demonstrated technical experience in providing a high level of technical advice and expertise to support, identify and maintain architectural integrity of a system
- Experience in providing support or leadership (from an architectural perspective) to operational support teams for problem resolution and troubleshooting activities
- Expertise in leading the delivery of diverse technical solutions
- Relevant product and technology knowledge in the area of relevance
- Experience in stakeholder requirements gathering
- Subject matter expertise in the applicable technology stream
- Ability to inspire and mentor staff
- Knowledge of quality and design methodologies, processes and controls
- Business maturity, rapport, credibility and dependability dealing with senior customer management
