Transport for NSW is the lead agency of the NSW Transport cluster. Our role is to lead the development of a safe, efficient, integrated transport system that keeps people and goods moving, connects communities and shapes the future of our cities, centres and regions.
We are responsible for strategy, planning, policy, regulation, funding allocation and other non-service delivery functions for all modes of transport in NSW including road, rail, ferry, light rail, point to point, regional air, cycling and walking.
We focus on improving the customer experience and contract public and private operators to deliver customer-focused transport services on our behalf.
We also lead the procurement of transport infrastructure and oversee delivery through project delivery offices and industry delivery partners.

The opportunity
Excellent opportunity for experienced Associate Director Injury and Claims Management (ICM) to join the senior management team of the People Services Unit of Transport Shared Services (TSS) branch, Corporate Services division. The position is responsible for developing continuous improvements workers compensation delivery, recovery at work programs and system and data submissions for the regulator across the Transport Cluster.
Direct reports – up to 4 staff.
You will
- Provide strategic leadership to key clients in the development, implementation and evaluation of systems and protocols related to injury management.
- Ensure TSS ICM practices are proactive, effective, integrated and consistent with statutory obligations and the goal of the safe and timely return to work of the employee is achieved wherever possible.
- Focus on ensuring exceptional service delivery, driving innovation, process consolidation and standardisation while working closely with a wide range of stakeholders to achieve major performance improvement goals, resolve issues, risks and impediments to successful operation.
- Set direction for the development of customer focused strategies, programmes, projects and initiatives across the cluster.

You are a customer driven professional, with an appetite for change and improvement and strive to deliver high standards of customer service provision. Ideally, you are experienced in self-insurance.
Essential requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline or relevant experience.
- Extensive insurance experience in the Injury Management and Claims arena at an executive level.
- Demonstrated experience in strong influencing, relationship building and negotiating skills.
- Demonstrated understanding & interpretation of relevant Legislation in Injury Management & Claims arena.
