The Role
Cardno has an opportunity for an Experienced Drainage Engineer, with expertise in drainage design to support our National Water & Environment team. You will be part of a team delivering major transport infrastructure design projects and undertaking high profile hydrological, hydraulic and/or water quality investigations using leading edge technology.
The role will be based out of Cardno's NSW Head Office at St Leonards and is a fantastic opportunity for someone wanting to join a progressive global organisation with a great team culture. You will have proven experience in a design team on major transport projects with ability to successfully deliver compliant design, including interdisciplinary design, and to be adaptive in accordance with client/contractor requirements. 12d drainage design expertise is essential.
Specifically, your duties will include:
- Transport infrastructure drainage design - servicing road, rail and airport projects;
- Detailed analysis and review of hydrological and hydraulic models;
- Basin design for water quality treatment of surface water and groundwater;
- Providing specialist advice to team members and clients; and,
- Building strong relationships with clients
About you
You will be a proactive, experienced professional, with the right combination of talent, energy and a commitment to technical excellence. You will use your technical knowledge and people skills to contribute to strong team results and be keen to share your technical expertise with your team.
In order to be successful for this role you will possess:
- A recognised tertiary qualification in Civil or Environmental Engineering;
- Proficiency in drainage and stormwater engineering, preferably in transport projects;
- Strong communication skills to support: inter-discipline relationships, client relationships, production of design reports and specialist investigative reports;
- A proficient understanding of road authority drainage standards;
- Skills in relevant software including drainage models (12d, DRAINS);
Desirable skills
- Experience with bridge scour assessment and scour protection design to Austroads guidelines
- Experience with flood modelling and flood impact assessments (desirable).
