Transport for NSW is the lead agency of the NSW Transport cluster. Our role is to lead the development of a safe, efficient, integrated transport system that keeps people and goods moving, connects communities and shapes the future of our cities, centres and regions.
We are responsible for strategy, planning, policy, regulation, funding allocation and other non-service delivery functions for all modes of transport in NSW including road, rail, ferry, light rail, point to point, regional air, cycling and walking.
We focus on improving the customer experience and contract public and private operators to deliver customer-focused transport services on our behalf.
We also lead the procurement of transport infrastructure and oversee delivery through project delivery offices and industry delivery partners.

The opportunity
Right now, we have a 12 months temporary full-time opportunity for a Finance Analyst to join us in the Finance Business partner team. This position plays a key role in providing quality business partnering with a focus on financial planning, forecasting, financial analysis and reporting activities across the business unit. The position is fully accountable for the formulation of advice and coordination of financial analysis across all operational objectives.
The key accountabilities for the role will include but are not limited to:
- Assist in the development of financial plans for the business unit which are aligned to Sydney Trains strategic plans and objectives
- Provide support in the preparation of forecasts for the business unit
- Assist in preparation of financial analysis and reporting for the business unit
- Contribute in the management of project financial performance
This role will be flexibility located between our Sydney Central offices and option to WFH.

About you
You are a tertiary qualified in accounting, business or commerce from a recognised tertiary institution with minimum 3 years of experience in a finance partnering role. You have strong knowledge of relevant financial acts and regulations and understanding of accounting principles, standards and practices.
As a trusted advisor, you have the ability to build strong relationship with key stakeholders, have excellent analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills. You have the ability to be resilient under pressure, work autonomously as well as an excellent team player and promote public sector values of integrity, accountability and professionalism.
Salary and benefits
The salary for this position is RC5 ($106,653 - $123,022) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
