About the team
The Infrastructure and Place division is in the process of delivering an ambitious and once-in-a generation multi-billion program of public infrastructure works which will ease congestion, improve safety, create new places and connect communities for generations to come. The Development Branch within the Infrastructure and Place division is responsible for the development of transport and place solutions that facilitate broader economic, social and environmental outcomes.
The opportunity
Due to the unprecedented scale of investment in the Transport for NSW Future Transport strategy we have a number exciting permanent opportunities for Project Development Managers to join our growing Infrastructure Development team working across regional NSW.
This includes opportunities supporting various projects across the Southern and Western NSW. Locations include:
Dubbo or the Orana and Central West Region,
Wollongong or the Illawarra & South Coast Region,
What you will be involved in
You will lead an interdisciplinary team of specialist and support staff to undertake and manage Development tasks such as:
- Deliver detailed project scoping and project development activities to ensure major infrastructure projects meet Government and Transport for NSW objectives.
- Ensure designs meet agreed criteria, benefits and user requirements by preparing effective project scoping and by monitoring the quality of design and other work by professional service contractors or internal service providers.
- Ensure that project resources are procured cost-effectively and that projects are implemented to agreed time, cost, quality and health & safety are consistent with operational and maintenance requirements during project development and by providing regular updates to senior management.
- Manage the delivery of environmental impact assessments on project to ensure compliance with Review of Environmental Factors (REF) and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) legislation.
- Procurement activities support and management including formulation of services briefs, tender and contract documentation, assessment, and management.
- Support the development and implementation of community engagement plans to ensure effective stakeholder consultation in the development phase of the project and interact with affected community members.
- Provide expert advice on this major infrastructure development project to ensure clients, stakeholders and staff understand project details and limitations.
About you
You will have relevant tertiary qualifications or extensive experience in planning, engineering, project management or a related discipline. Proven project management background in developing large multi-disciplinary, complex infrastructure road, tunnel and bridge projects, whilst managing and leading multidisciplinary teams will be highly regarded
Key knowledge and experience
- Extensive experience in project planning, development and project management.
- Experience in the development, management, and improvement of project systems, change management initiatives and implementation of quality assurance processes.
- Demonstrated experience in managing and liaising with private sector proponents on behalf of Government to achieve project objectives.
Essential requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
- Possess a valid Australian motor vehicle drivers licence.
- The successful applicant may be required to work outside normal working hours or to travel on occasion.

Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position is Grade USS10 ($126,310 - $138,035) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
