Transport for NSW is the lead agency of the NSW Transport cluster. Our role is to lead the development of a safe, efficient, integrated transport system that keeps people and goods moving, connects communities and shapes the future of our cities, centres and regions.
We are responsible for strategy, planning, policy, regulation, funding allocation and other non-service delivery functions for all modes of transport in NSW including road, rail, ferry, light rail, point to point, regional air, cycling and walking.
We focus on improving the customer experience and contract public and private operators to deliver customer-focused transport services on our behalf.
We also lead the procurement of transport infrastructure and oversee delivery through project delivery offices and industry delivery partners.

The opportunity
Network and Assets branch at Transport for NSW is looking for Safety, Environment & Quality Officer to join their team. In this role you will support the Senior Project Manager, Project Managers and Surveillance Officers in the Project Services Unit in reviewing project system plans that are prepared by our Local Government Partners under the Road Maintenance Council Contract. In addition you will support development engineers in implementing the relevant quality system. You will ensure that the councils are complying with project plans by audit & inspection and prepare monthly reports on this compliance. You will also be required to deliver training modules to internal staff.
The position will be based in the Wollongong area. You will engage with local government and development engineers to support achievement of Transports contract requirements.
About you
To be successful in this role, in addition to relevant work experience, you must have relevant qualification in WH&S or related discipline and as an external auditor. Extensive knowledge of civil construction and a Cert IV in Training and Assessment would be advantageous.
If you have demonstrated experience in implementing safety, environmental and quality management systems and a proven record of providing excellent advice to managers and with regard to best practices in SEQ matters then this is the role for you.
To be successful in this role you will require the ability to plan, prioritize and organize work while delivering on tight deadlines, have strong attention to detail, be customer focused, demonstrate drive and commitment, and have effective communication, negotiation skills and the ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position is USS8 ($102,098- $109,561) - per annum plus superannuation
