The Enterprise Architect lead is a senior position working closely with the Head of Strategy and architecture and other senior stakeholders to develop, communicate and maintaining the overarching technology strategy for ING Australia.
The role is expected to work closely with the bank’s senior leadership to identify and leverage future strategic architecture requirements and opportunities, particularly during medium term planning and Quarterly business review exercises, to strongly guide and influence the business on the optimal use of the enterprise architecture portfolio.
They also bring in ‘outside thinking’ being across industry trends and actively participating in industry forums.
Enterprise Architecture is responsible for the strategic architecture and roadmaps across the bank in conjunction with the tribes and CoE’s including information, application, infrastructure and security, for its ongoing development and enhancement with a specific focus on medium term. The role provides architecture leadership and development of best practice, standards and training and mentoring for the wider teams and champions EA and the EA plan in project steering committees, management discussions and within the engineering landscape.
The role engages closely with the global and group EA community and practice and actively provides input into EA discussions, setting standards and frameworks and aligning this back onto the Australian landscape.
What are you going to do?
Manage and lead the team of EA’s building a strong EA practice.
Coach and mentor wider architecture and technology team as and where relevant
Responsible for development and ongoing refresh Enterprise architecture roadmaps for the Bank by communicating , facilitating workshops and strategy sessions with key senior leaders and stakeholders
Input and review Technology strategy, roadmaps and manage delivery of initiatives is aligned to target architecture roadmap.

Lead and enhance the Enterprise architecture practice and governance , ensuring effective process and standards are implemented and maintained
New architectural approaches and technologies are demonstrated and introduced to business and IT stakeholders and added as appropriate to the business technology portfolio.
Ensure that the enterprise architecture plan is implemented within the solution designs from across all architecture functions (platform and domain) and implementation teams.
Ensure that solution designs from across all architecture and implementation teams comply or waivers are granted in accordance with enterprise architecture governance principles.
What are we looking for? Someone who has…
Ideally 12+ years of experience in delivering knowledge and expertise across Digital and Core Banking s systems, processes and architecture and strategy development..
Proven ability to define Technology strategy which translates business and technology priorities into strategic themes
Proven ability to present and communicate with Senior management and key stakeholders
Ability to balance the long-term and short-term implications of individual decisions and translate business needs into technology requirements.
Deep knowledge of data structures, design, architectural and integration patterns, algorithms, and engineering best practices.
Demonstrated working experience modern enterprise software world working with API’s, J2EE (EJB), lightweight frameworks, web and application servers , Micro services, Container technology
Working knowledge on building Mobile Applications for Android and iOS using Native and Hybrid Technologies
Knowledge of Event-based Architectural patterns using Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ etc.
Working experience of Public Cloud Architectures
Experience in Server-side Application Architecture design patterns
Certification on architecture frameworks (TOGAF, etc.) - Desirable
Knowledge of Container eco systems (e.g. Docker, Kubernates etc.)
