About the role:
- Manage the rail safety component of a worksite and assess the appropriate type of protection for the works performed
- Implement appropriate type of protection when there is potential to intrude into the danger zone
- Assess the risk associated with the rail component of the activity and safety requirements to manage rail traffic through or into a worksite
- Provide worksite protection details for the Pre-Start Briefing and provide answers to queries as necessary
- Hand over worksite protection information to the relieving Protection Officer and ensure workers and equipment are clear of the danger zone prior to suspending/releasing any type of protection
- Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders
- Confirm the infrastructure is fit for service or fit for service within operating restrictions
- Facilitate and contribute achievement of safety and environmental performance targets
- Undertake track protection for internal and external maintenance or construction activities across the Central Queensland Coal Network (CQCN)
- Variable roster formats with overtime available
- Fixed term contract – 12 months
About you:
- Protection Officer Level 2 Track Occupancy Authority Qualification (Mandatory)
- Previous experience in similar role
- Current manual drivers’ licence (Mandatory)
- Demonstrate safe work behaviours with a high level of excellence
- Flexibility and willingness to travel as required
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills including a high level of attention to detail
- Exceptional communication, consultation and negotiation skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment and juggle conflicting priorities
- Willingness to complete CAT 2 Medical and Psychometric testing requirements
