Group Ethics and Compliance (“E&C”) is responsible for the implementation of the Rio Tinto Ethics and Integrity program throughout the Rio Tinto Group.
We are looking for a Compliance Manager to support our businesses including Iron Ore, closure and all functions operating in Western Australia (AusWest).
The role will work closely with the Director Ethics & Compliance APAC and is primarily responsible for successful delivery of activities and projects to embed core elements of the E&C’s program within the AusWest businesses.
Reporting to the Director Ethics & Compliance APAC, you will be:
- Ensuring implementation of the core elements of the E&C Compliance Program.
- Supporting the Iron Ore Product Group and other functions located within the region with respect to the compliance related issues and projects ensuring that employees, and third parties working on behalf of Rio Tinto, conduct business in an ethical and compliant manner.
- Identify compliance related risks, resolve compliance-related issues and ensure remediation actions plans are established and implemented.
- Participate in reviews of new transactions and new business model, analysing the impact on compliance. Design and implement the elements of the compliance program.
- Design/ Conduct monitoring activities to provide assurance over the effectiveness of the Compliance Program and implementation of E&C Standards and Procedures.
- Support Risk, Assurance and Compliance Forums, management meetings or other forums providing governance and oversight over compliance related risks.
- Subject matter expert for Data Privacy, being a key contact to address queries and issues on Data Privacy matters.
- Leading and delivering assigned onsite reviews
- Working collaboratively in a team environment to achieve E&C’s objectives and priorities.
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- A Bachelor degree or similar professional qualification in the field of law, business administration, risk management, compliance or auditing
- A wealth of experience in a compliance, audit/ Finance, risk or governance function and familiarity with other commercial processes such as sales & marketing and procurement.
- Strong knowledge around requirements of a compliance program and the elements
- Strong analytical, project management and implementation skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills with ability to interface with cross functional and across multiple jurisdictions
- Excellent organisational skills and strong stakeholders’ management
- Basic knowledge and understanding of regional/local legislative requirements, current compliance practices and industry standards
- Worked with multiple stakeholders and management, who are across multiple regions and time zones
- Proficient Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, PowerPoint
