We are looking for a Mineral Tenement Advisor to work within the Tenures and Approvals team, providing tenement management and approvals support within Rio Tinto's Exploration group.
This role is a great opportunity to expand your knowledge and experience as part of a diverse business. Supporting our Australasia portfolio, you will work with stakeholder groups including government departments and our own Geologists. The role supports multiple commodities, and you will build your knowledge across multiple jurisdictions within Australia.
Reporting to the Land Mineral & Rights Specialist, and working as part of a positive and collaborative team you will:
- Prepare and lodge exploration tenement applications and various compliance documentation including renewals, variations to tenement conditions and reports.
- Coordinate the submission of approvals documentation including water licenses and ground disturbance permits.
- Review tenement and approval related requests and provide advice on process and procedures.
- Assist the project teams to ensure all relevant licences and approvals are in place in order to undertake exploration activities.
- Ensure strict compliance with statutory obligations.
- Maintain documents and databases to monitor and manage the compliance obligations of the exploration tenement portfolio.
- Liaise with statutory bodies, stakeholders and industry rep bodies regarding tenement management issues including amendments to mining legislation and regulations.

- Experience with the interpretation of legislation and associated regulation
- Clear understanding of exploration tenement application processes and compliance obligations
- A good understanding of related legislation as they impact upon tenement management (e.g. Environmental, Local government)
- Well-developed negotiation and problem-solving skills
