The Project

Albemarle is currently constructing a lithium hydroxide production plant within the Kemerton Strategic Industrial Area near the Western Australian city of Bunbury. The commissioning of the Kemerton site is expected to start in stages during the course of 2021, and by the end of 2021 the plant is expected to be producing battery grade lithium hydroxide to support the world’s growing electric vehicle and battery storage markets. Kemerton trains 1 & 2 are part of the MARBL Lithium JV, a 60:40 joint venture between Albemarle and Mineral Resources Limited.

The Role

South West Personnel continue their partnership with Albemarle to source Mechanical Trade Assistants. Post commissioning TA’s will be accountable for providing support to both scheduled and reactive maintenance services to plant operations.

To apply, you will either be:

• an entry level applicant with industrial experience and the ability to be trained as a quality Trade Assistant, or
• an experienced Trade Assistant seeking a career challenge within commissioning and start-up operations.

Accountabilities:

• Ensuring all work is performed in accordance with site health, safety, environmental and community policies.
• Maximising plant availability by responding to plant outages and equipment faults in a timely manner.
• Initiation and update to work procedures and instructions to ensure they are effective.
• Delivery of quality maintenance and equipment availability through relationship building between Operations, Reliability and Planning teams.
• Support commissioning requirements.

To be shortlisted you will have:

• Experience working within a heavy industry fixed plant environment.
• Demonstrated sound problem solving and fault-finding skills with the ability to respond to changing priorities.
• Working knowledge of SAP maintenance systems is desirable.
• Current nationally accredited Confined Space and Working at Heights Tickets.
• Current High Risk licence for Forklift, EWP, Rigging, Crane, Scaffolding – all highly desirable.
• EWP experience in a fixed plant or construction environment.
• Current C class drivers licence as a minimum – HR class preference.
• Previous commissioning experience desirable.
• Have the legal right to live and work in Australia.
• Reside or be PREPARED TO RELOCATE within 55kms of the Bunbury Kemerton Plant.
