We are looking for a Senior Advisor, Strategy and Performance to join our Rio Tinto Iron Ore (RTIO) Communities and Social Performance (CSP) team to contribute to the development of CSP strategies and play a lead role in improving RTIO’s processes, policies and performance across a range of CSP areas such as social impact, human rights, regional economic development and consultation and engagement.
This role will work closely with Rio Tinto’s global CSP Area of Excellence (AoE) on these areas and provide guidance to the wider business.

Reporting to the Lead CSP Strategy and Performance within the CSP team, you will be:
- Supporting the implementation, review and evaluation of the 5-Year CSP Strategy for RTIO.
- As part of the strategy, delivering clear plans and priorities for CSP activity, and developing KPIs to track overall performance and enable continuous improvement.
- Working closely with CSP Area of Expertise to foster two-way knowledge sharing, including cascading CSP thought leadership through the function and operating as a subject matter expert on social performance.
- Leading projects to define best practice and uplift RTIO performance on key CSP capabilities/priorities such as social impact and risk assessments, human rights, regional economic development, social investment, stakeholder engagement etc.
- Conduct social scans to measure societal expectations around CSP & Life of mine (LoM) issues.
- Act as a thought leader, bringing innovation to the function, facilitating a culture of knowledge sharing and best practice
What you’ll bring
Previous experience within the resources sector is not a requirement. We appreciate experience gained from other industries such as not-for-profit organisations, consultancies, corporates, government and international bodies. Ideally, you will have:
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- A genuine desire to make a difference to the way we work with communities and the impact we seek to have
- Relevant tertiary qualification
- Broad experience and technically strong within key areas of CSP
- Strong strategic thinking, project management and stakeholder engagement experience
- Research and analytical capability
- Experience working with Indigenous stakeholders and regional communities

Where you’ll be working
Working Monday to Friday, you can base yourself at our head office in Perth CBD with the option to work remotely (from home). There will also be a requirement to travel from time-to-time.
