At Canva, we celebrate diversity. We deeply believe that bringing together diversity of thoughts, perspectives and expression is key to building the best product, team and company. We mean it when we say we want to create a diverse and inclusive workplace where we value all different types of experiences and want to create a space and culture where you feel like you belong.
We know it can be a tricky time applying for roles, wondering if the role is right for you and if you and your experience are right for the role too. Many people won’t apply for roles unless they feel that they tick every single box. At Canva we look for many different skills and abilities and we’re always looking for how new team members can add to Canva and our culture. So if you don’t think you quite meet all of the skills listed, we’d still love to hear from you!
Our mission at Canva is to empower the world to design and since launching in 2013, we have grown exponentially, amassing over 80 million monthly active users across 190 different countries and a team of over 2,800 people… and the best bit is that we’ve only achieved 1% of what we know we’re capable of.
Be a Force for Good
We’re driven by our values, with our ‘Be a Force for Good’ value supporting everything that we do. Through your work on our product or team, and our community initiatives and sustainability programs, you’re given the opportunity to come to Canva and make a tangible difference to the lives of others in your day-to-day life. In addition to our Founder’s 30% Pledge, Canva is committed to Pledge 1% and actively encourage our team to participate in many ways, including taking paid volunteer leave.
Your journey with Canva could take you to places that you might not even imagined yet. There’s opportunity around every corner and the support to help you achieve your goals.

About the team
At Canva, we’re all constantly striving towards our Crazy Big Goals! Since growing to a worldwide team of over 2,500 we need to ensure we’re working as effectively and efficiently as possible, which is where the role of Leadership Operations comes in!
The People Group at Canva is made up of a global team working across teams such as Talent Acquisition, Vibe, Canva University, People Partners, Internal Coaching, People Experience, Impact & Growth, and much more! Our mission is to have a People Experience as delightful as our Product Experience - we take care of every Canvanaut from hire to retire, and we’re responsible for every team touchpoint along the way, making each of them as delightful and friction-free as possible.
About the role
This role is part of the close-knit Leadership Operations team here at Canva and will be a partner to our Head of People to extend their reach and capacity. The Leadership Operations role will be integral in supporting Canva’s Head of People, the People Group, and our Canva team to perform at their very best, providing focussed strategic direction on projects and creating spaces to proactively solve business challenges.
We move fast here at Canva, and this role will certainly keep you on your toes. We are looking for someone super-efficient, who loves nothing more than to anticipate needs before they arise and loves to get stuff done. You’re who we want to be working with if you’re great at prioritizing, juggling projects (and moving them rapidly along), and keeping calm under pressure.
What you'll do
Strategic partner: You’ll be the strategic partner to the Head of People, this will mean being a trusted sounding board for decisions, consolidating requests and making recommendations or helping communicate to the wider business.
Prioritization: You’ll be the triage point and the gateway to the Head of People. You’ll work with the overall group to make sure that requests are in the right shape before getting to the lead and cut through the noise to ensure that they are involved in the right decision at the right time.
Proactively drive projects forward: You’ll take on driving key projects and initiatives that are critical to the People group. This will include cross-cutting project management with stakeholders that sit in many different parts of Canva.
Be a Real People Person: You’ll build strong relationships with key stakeholders within the company, this will be critical to ensuring that there is the right two-way visibility between the people team and the business.
Own the day to day: Making sure that the Head of People’s time is spent in the most impactful areas by triaging meeting requests and running meetings effectively.
Be in the detail: You have an innate desire to focus on the little things without losing sight of the bigger picture. Using insights and trends to guide and drive initiatives that have a measurable benefit to Canva and the People group.
Who you'll be
We’re open to your background, however, we’d love to hear about your experience and/or passion for the People space. Ideally, someone who has exposure working in People Operations, HR, Talent Acquisition, Talent Development or DE&I.
6 + years of experience in developing, and continuously improving strategic people plans that facilitate business goals.
Experience prioritizing, managing and tracking multiple projects simultaneously with the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
A keen eye for detail and a strong desire to uphold high standards of excellence.
Truly self-motivated with a desire to constantly learn, develop and grow in the role.
You’ll need to be driven to turn the chaos rapidly to clarity and then communicate it clearly. Truly championing the value of Making Complex Things Simple.
Someone with a bias for action, constantly striving to get things done.
Keen presentation and great design skills (Canva’s made that bit easy!).
Integrity and trustworthiness with humility/willingness to question one’s own assumptions.
A real people person. Someone who can communicate well with stakeholders from all across the business at many different levels, and enjoy it!
