At AWS, we are hiring a Principal Solutions Architect who will work with the largest public sector and health organizations across Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) to deliver business value for them and improve citizen experience by transforming the way they leverage technology. The individual will help customers successfully leverage Amazon Web Services and VMware technologies to transform their business
You will be a senior member of the team where you will leverage your passion and enthusiasm for consultative engagement and technical solutioning to enable and empower customers on their way to modernised application portfolios. As a trusted customer advocate, you will need to understand best practices in advanced AWS and VMware solutions.

They will seek to share their passion for well implemented technology with others and exhibit good judgment when building these opportunities with customers. They will be detail oriented in a way that understands the needs of the business when balancing the optimal modernised architecture.
VMware Cloud on AWS is an integrated cloud offering jointly developed by AWS and VMware delivering a highly scalable, secure and innovative service that allows organizations to seamlessly migrate and extend their on-premises VMware environments to the AWS Cloud. The solution gives customers optimized access to innovative, native AWS services including AI/ML, serverless, managed databases, containers, and more.
You will help customers accelerate and simplify the migration to and modernization of VMware based workloads on the AWS Cloud. In doing so, you will work directly with internal AWS teams, VMware product / engineering teams and Partners looking to integrate this service with their service offerings.
You will build and architect solutions for a broad range of customer use cases such as hybrid architectures, migration and application modernization initiatives. The ability to connect technology with measurable business value is critical and you should have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about customer mission and technical challenges.
Key job responsibilities
- You will have deep technical knowledge and hands-on experience with VMware technologies, a strong understanding of software architecture and cloud computing, and a deep understanding of AWS service
- You will ensure success in helping customers accelerate their adoption of VMware Cloud and modern cloud services
- You will define reusable patterns for VMware migrations and provide thought leadership across WWPS APJ teams to accelerate transformation regionally
- Guide and motivate the development of artifacts, data sheets, proof of concept best practices, and other high-value customer facing guidance and best practices
This role covers the World-Wide Public Sector (WWPS) APJ region and travel will be required.

Every day as a Solutions Architect is different. One day you could be building a Proof-of-Concept to show a customer the art of the possible, the next you could be writing content that helps our customers accelerate, the next coaching others on a technology you have expertise in.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience consulting on, managing and/or deploying VMware and Cloud technologies, with hands-on configuration and building experience
- Experience working with customers in highly regulated industries that have requirements for working with one or more security and compliance regimes
- Experience in customer-facing positions
- Broad experience with related technologies including data centre networks and network topologies, hybrid architectures and experience building complex systems
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges
- Proven experience in a consultative technical sales or professional services with a proven track record of success.
- Ability to gain credibility and build relationships with all levels in an organization, from technical experts to executive
- Proven ability to collaborate across internal and external organizations and virtual teams
- Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively across internal and external organizations and virtual teams
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A degree in computer science, engineering or mathematics or equivalent experience
- Previous experience consulting on, managing and/or deploying AWS and/or VMware technologies
- Expert level experience with data center networks and network topologies
- Related industry certification such as AWS Solutions Architecture Certification (Associate or Professional) and/or VMware professional level certification (VCP, VCIX, VCDX)
- Proven experience in a consultative technical sales or professional services with a track record of successful engagements
- Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively across internal and external organizations and virtual teams
- Ability to gain credibility and build relationships with all levels in an organization, from technical experts to senior executives
