About the Opportunity
Boral are currently seeking an organised individual to join our TAS Technical Services team based out of our Bridgewater Laboratory in Hobart as a Field Technician.
This role reports to the Technical Manager and involves undertaking tasks in relation to sampling, testing, physical analysis, maintenance of records, and reporting of results for our concrete products and services.
The Technical team supports Boral’s Concrete Plants, Quarries and customers in Tasmania (Southern & Northern Regions). Testers complete varied duties and are exposed to varying projects ranging from general residential work through to high level infrastructure projects.
Duties
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting on-site and laboratory-based quality testing, in accordance with work instructions and test methods for raw materials and concrete products.
- Liaising with technical, production and sales staff in relation to internal/external customer requirements
- Involvement in product development, including trials
- Maintaining, observing, and being actively involved in the requirements of Boral Health, Safety and Environmental procedures.
- Maintenance of the Laboratory according to NATA accreditation requirements.
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate must demonstrate:
- Genuine interest in learning the art of quality control testing of concrete & quarry material products
- Strong commitment and motivation towards work
- Proven ability to work within a team environment
- Self-motivated with the ability to work unsupervised
- A Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques will be highly regarded but not essential
- Flexibility to work Saturdays when required
- Current Drivers Licence
- Flexibility to work overtime and weekends when required
- Flexibility to travel to remote areas when required
