The Fraud Investigator plays a critical role in protecting Kmart and its customers from fraud through effective data analytics, optimising fraud systems, and identifying insights through reporting. You will be able to assess and investigate the potential threat to Kmart of fraud and criminality, ensuring proper processes are executed to the highest standards. It is a key member of the National Loss Prevention Team reporting directly into the National Shrink Control Manager
What you’ll be doing
At heart of this role, you will:
- Conduct detailed analysis to identify opportunities regarding loss prevention.
- Review shrink analysis trends and insights and identify the highest risk areas for loss.
- Conduct investigations into allegations of fraud, waste, or abuse of company resources by internal and external stakeholders.
- Compile briefs of evidence to support criminal investigations and/or management actions
- Influence, advise, guide, and support senior business stakeholders on operational risk in order to continue to improve standards and make informed decisions.
- Proactively produce and communicate reporting on fraudulent issues and insights across the business.
- Dissect data and anticipate fraud trends, providing recommendations to the wider business
To be successful in this role you’ll have:
To meet the challenges of this role, you will ideally have the following:
- A curious and analytical mindset with superior investigative skills
- Ability to investigate allegations of fraud, waste, or abuse of company resources.
- Be able to demonstrate experience in data mining and analysis.
- Outstanding relationship building and stakeholder management capability with the influencing skills to match.
- Explicit understanding of the criminal justice system.
- Understanding of commercial finance and ideally be proficient with inventory control systems.
- Preferably experience working in a fast-paced retail environment with a vast stores network.
- An ability to influence, advise, guide, and support senior business stakeholders on operational risk so that Kmart can continue to improve standards and make informed decisions.
- Ideally have at least 3-5 years in a similar position.
