Your new team
Our Finance and Operations group is responsible for the Fund's considerable financial, legal and operational activities. Your new role
This role will report into the Managing Legal Counsel, Investments and sit within the wider Legal team. You will advise on legal issues and manage the legal workstream in respect of Fund investments, with a focus on direct investments in private equity both domestically and internationally, and on listed market investments. You will lead the identification, escalation and mitigation of legal risks, and advise on legal documentation and commercial terms. Your ability to provide strategic and commercial advice, and to negotiate effectively, will be valued. A key requirement of this role is the ability to form strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. You will become a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders and support them in reaching their objectives. Some other key duties are listed below:
- Help to ensure the Fund is structured and operating in an optimal manner to ensure scale and opportunities are exploited
- Take ownership for the development and implementation of appropriate control processes, precedents and checklists for the ongoing review of investments in listed and unlisted assets
- Input into the broader transaction management for the Fund's direct acquisitions across the asset class teams and portfolio operations
- Keep pace with the issues surrounding the investment of funds into a broad range of asset classes and communicate these to senior stakeholders as required
What you'll need
- 7+ years of experience working within private practice at a large law firm or an in-house legal function within an institutional investing organisation
- Extensive experience working on private equity or large-scale corporate transactions with a detailed understanding of due diligence principles in relation to investments. Knowledge of listed market transactions is also helpful
- Self-starter comfortable working in a team where direct involvement in tasks is required, along with sound commercial judgement and a results driven mindset
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills (both written and verbal), with the ability to present ideas, perspectives and issues to senior management
