Purpose
- The Manufacturing Engineering Engineer liaises between Engineering and Manufacturing to optimize manufacturability of products, throughput times and productivity. He/she leads production of the building of the first vehicle of each type, proving processes and TAKT times and support Engineering in capturing Manufacturing needs, Carbody manufacture is the primary focus for this position.
- He/she supports Design for Manufacturing and standardization jointly with the co-support of Engineering and that manufacturing layouts and technical documentation are accurate and optimized across all functions and that all technical information is up-to date, complete and available on time.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain user friendly manufacturing documentation including BOM’s, Labour estimates, Work Record Books, Work Instructions, Job hazard Assessments etc., for the project
- Setup and maintain basic technical data, planning BOMs, task lists/materials and associated kit lists.
- Identify and obtain all relevant project technical supporting documentation, maintaining the technical library and issuing controlled copies to the shop floor as required.
- Co-ordinate and prioritise technical issues arising from projects daily and complete corrective action in a timely manner.
- Identify and implement improvements on the production line and Create Production throughput plans that are based on continuous improvement towards lean manufacturing.
- Material control – Defining the contents and design of Assembly Kits required to support Production.
- Liaise with ALL site functions on project related issues
- Carry out investigations and reports into processes and component failure, including correspondence with Engineering and Quality departments to resolve technical enquires in a timely manner.
- Lead technical reviews / warranty investigations and assist with implementation of corrective and improvement actions with the project and production management teams.
- Provide cost estimates for changes and implement Customer Variations.
Key Requirements:
- A college or university degree in Mechanical Engineering or the equivalent work experience that provides knowledge and exposure to fundamental theories, principles and concepts.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment or similar field.
- Strong knowledge of Engineering and manufacturing processes and tools. IT-Systems, design documents, CAD and Supply Chain requirements.
- Strong Technical knowledge in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering and engineering change management.
- Hold concern for clarity and accuracy, understands manufacturing as an internal customer and engineering as an internal supplier. Sense of urgency and drive for improvement.
- Experience in Autocad and/or Catia V5 will be good to have.
